High heels? Check. Perfectly paired separates? Check. Bright colours and peppy patterns? Check and check.
As street style photographer Rei Shito reports, French fashionistas are shedding their Zoom attire and stepping out in flashy outfits that have “I’m ready for my close-up!” written all over them.
Rei says: “The pandemic isn’t over, but every now and then you get exuberant flashes of life as it used to be, and for a moment, you feel like things might be going back to normal. That’s how I felt when I spotted this fashionista in Paris on my recent visit.
“This is Tiffany Hsu, the Fashion Buying Director of luxury online retailer mytheresa.com. I snapped her pic before the Chloé show at Paris Fashion Week.
“The city in general seemed alive with a liberated feeling, and I saw people wearing mini skirts – the epitome of liberated fashion – just about everywhere! Perhaps it’s a counter-reaction to wearing loungewear for months on end during lockdowns, but the whole style scene seems to be moving from casual to chic, relaxed to buttoned-up.
“Mini skirts definitely fit the bill, especially when worn with heels (come to think of it, I don’t see many sneakers anymore). The look says: ‘Let’s show off our legs, ladies and gentlemen, and enjoy fashion!’ I felt a positive energy like that all over Paris.
“I also saw people of all genders wearing colourful outfits, just like this lime-green look. The playful hues are another way in which fashionistas are going from ‘dressed down’ to ‘dressed to the nines’.”
